Week 13 “What’s behind the door?” Contest

Associated Food Stores is sponsoring a contest, allowing consumers, school groups and store team members to complete episode 13. In episode 13, Grant and Kathy are awaiting the arrival of Grant’s parents, with some apprehension. As the kids are scrambling to get the house prepared, the doorbell rings, signaling the arrival of Grandma and Grandpa Western. Grant approaches the door, opens it, and we see him looking at the porch with some trepidation. What does he see? That is up to the creative minds of the followers of My Western Family.

When: Contest will begin October 29th, when the 13th episode is posted. We will accept submissions until Wednesday, November 26th, allowing three weeks to complete submissions.

What: Associated Food Stores will accept video entries, in length between a few seconds, and three minutes. Videos must be uploaded within the above-outlined time requirements on YouTube, or mailed to Associated Food Stores to be considered. Mail entries on DVD to: Grant Western, 1850 West 2100 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84119.

Who: There will be two categories: consumer and team member. Anyone who does not have a family member in their direct family working for AFS or ARS qualifies as a consumer. Anyone with a direct family member working for AFS or ARS will be eligible under the team member category.

Prizes: All submissions, in either category will receive a $50 gift card, redeemable at any participating Associated Food Store retailer. Visit mywesternfamily.com for a list of participating stores.

Team member prizes: A group of judges will pick a 1st, 2nd and 3rdplace submission from among the team member submissions. First place will receive a $500 gift card, second $300 and third $200.

Consumer prizes: A group of judges will select five finalists from the consumer entries. The five will then be posted for five days (November 26-December 3, 2008) and the public will be allowed to vote for their favorite. After the votes are tallied, the winner will receive $1,000 cash, and the other four finalists will receive a $200 gift card.

Judging hints: The Westerns are a quirky and strange, but loving family. Submissions reflecting that quirkiness will be looked upon favorably. Reviewing the 13 episodes on YouTube may help in this effort. Western Family product placements, while not required, will certainly help sway judges.
